Frequently asked questions
Short answers about what MAIA covers, what data it includes, how it is priced, and how it handles your data. Each answer stands on its own.
Does MAIA cover my market?#
The Free plan opens six counties, and Pro opens every county MAIA covers. Data depth varies by county, and the catalog in the app shows what each county holds. See Plans and Core data.
What data does MAIA include?#
Every dataset MAIA holds is included in every plan: parcels and ownership, buildings and businesses, demographics, roads and the electric grid, flood and environmental records, schools, permits, and incentive zones, plus overhead imagery for computer vision. There is no data subscription underneath the plan. See Core data.
How is MAIA different from a GIS or a data vendor?#
A GIS gives you tools and expects you to bring the data and the method. A data vendor sells you records and leaves the analysis to you. MAIA holds the data, runs the research, and shows its sources. You bring the objective.
How is MAIA priced?#
MAIA is priced by the research you run, not by the number of people on your team. The Free plan costs nothing. Pro is $499 a month and includes $500 in credits every month, with unlimited seats. Chat and enrichments spend from one credit balance. See Plans.
Can MAIA find the person behind an LLC?#
Yes. MAIA traces LLCs, trusts, and companies to people, using property records, state filings, the organization's own website, and professional profiles. Each contact shows how well its identity is supported. Filter the list to the owners you will call before you run it. See Contacts.
Can I use my own data in MAIA?#
Yes. Upload a spreadsheet or a map file, and MAIA matches the rows to parcels or adds them as a layer. One file at a time, up to 10,000 rows, or 1,000 rows matched by address. Enterprise workspaces can also connect a database and keep it in sync. See File upload and Database sync.
Can I use MAIA from Claude, ChatGPT, or another AI assistant?#
Yes, once the connector is turned on for your workspace. It works best in Claude, and it also works with ChatGPT and other MCP clients, and it reaches the same agent, data, and projects as the web app. See Connect.
Does MAIA train on my data?#
No. We improve MAIA using anonymized, aggregated data and the feedback you choose to send, never the projects, files, or messages you put in MAIA. See Data and privacy.
What happens when MAIA cannot find an answer?#
The cell reads Unavailable, and the reasoning says what MAIA checked. MAIA does not fill the gap with a guess.
Does MAIA test an enrichment before it runs on everything?#
When the agent starts a column, yes. It runs one row or a small sample first, reads the results, and corrects the column before it runs the rest. When you start a run from the Enrich menu, you choose the count. See Run an enrichment.
Can my team work in the same MAIA project?#
Yes. Set a project's access for your workspace to Can view or Can edit. A new project starts private. A project set to Can edit has one chat, so one person dispatches at a time, and a colleague's runs spend the workspace's credits. You can also send a link to someone outside the workspace. See Shared workspaces and Sharing and publishing.
Can MAIA run a long job while I do something else?#
Yes. Work in MAIA runs on its own servers, not in your browser tab. The main agent's run continues after you close the project, and so does every enrichment: rows fill in as they finish, and the answer is waiting in the chat when you come back. Work still spends credits while you are away. To stop a run, stop it from the project's chat.
Does MAIA compute drive times?#
Yes. Ask for the drive, walk, or bike time or distance between places, for the places within a travel-time budget, or for the area reachable within one, and MAIA routes over the road network. Times assume free-flowing traffic and show as hours and minutes. Distances show in miles. Both ends must lie in the project's county, and the route in between may leave it. Ask for a radius, or "as the crow flies", and MAIA measures straight-line distance instead. When MAIA cannot route, because a place is too far from any road or no route exists, it says so rather than answering with nothing.
How do I get help with MAIA?#
